Craig Shearon is an illustrator, designer, and storyteller based on the West Coast of Scotland, with a focus on book cover design.
His bold, decorative covers blend antique influences with a contemporary edge, rooted in history, ornament and narrative. With a sharp eye for typography, composition and storytelling, Craig creates book covers that feel both timeless and distinctly crafted.
While cover design sits at the heart of his practice, Craig’s personal work explores themes of memory, emotion and atmosphere. Influenced by the rhythm of music, the quiet grandeur of nature, and stories passed down through generations, he aims to evoke feeling – whether through illustration, writing or design.
Craig studied Illustration at Glasgow Clyde College and Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design. He was mentored by Penguin Random House through Creative Access, and his work for Glasgow Women’s Library, illustrating for the 21 Revolutions podcast, was selected as a featured highlight for its storytelling and visual response. Other clients include COP26, for whom he designed digital and print campaign materials. He has also led visual design for community events and theatre productions in his hometown.
When not illustrating, Craig can often be found outdoors, hiking the hills, reading widely, or immersed in the quiet drama of cinema. These personal moments of reflection and curiosity feed into the lyrical, layered quality of his creative work.
